If you love exploring local eats and drinks while you travel, you’re in for a treat in Cuyuna Lakes. Sure, the trails and lakes are what draw most people here—but the food scene? Totally underrated. Whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast before an adventure, a cozy café to unwind in, or a great spot for dinner with friends, here’s where to eat, sip, and savor your way through Cuyuna.
Before you hit the trails, you’ll want to fuel up—and Cuyuna has some great local options that go way beyond the usual grab-and-go.
North Country Café in Crosby is a local favorite for a reason. It’s the kind of place where the coffee’s always hot, the pancakes are fluffy, and everyone’s greeted like a regular.
If you’re willing to take a little drive, Mixed Company in Brainerd is worth it. They serve breakfast sandwiches, smoothies, and strong coffee in a warm, welcoming space.
After a morning exploring, nothing beats a laid-back lunch.
Check out Red Raven Bike Café in Crosby. Not only is it a cool place to hang out (it’s also a bike shop), but their wraps, salads, and sandwiches are fresh and flavorful—perfect for a midday recharge.
For something heartier, head over to Iron Range Eatery. Their wild rice burger is something special, and their flatbreads and comfort food staples make this a great lunch (or dinner) option.
Need a little something to keep you going in the afternoon?
Crosby Coffee Company has you covered with espresso drinks, seasonal lattes, and a pastry case that’s hard to resist. Whether you’re working remotely or relaxing after a bike ride, it’s a great spot to slow down for a bit.
Mixed Company also has an awesome bakery selection—think muffins, cookies, and other goodies made fresh daily.
When the day winds down and you’re ready for something satisfying, there are a few spots that stand out.
Iron Range Eatery deserves a second mention—it’s just that good. With a rotating menu and dishes that are both creative and comforting, it’s ideal for everything from date night to dinner with the crew.
For a more casual, local vibe, The Deerstand in Deerwood is a solid pick. Burgers, wings, and cold drinks in a friendly setting—it doesn’t get much more Minnesotan than that.
If you’re into craft beer or cocktails, make time to sample the local drink scene.
Big Axe Brewing Co. in nearby Nisswa is known for its small-batch beers and relaxed atmosphere. If you’re up for the drive, it’s a great spot to end the day.
Want to take it a step further? 17 Degrees Craft Distillery (a bit of a road trip, but worth it) offers tasting flights of locally made spirits. The vibe is cozy, and they often host live music too.
Looking to bring something delicious home?
Victual in Aitkin is a hidden gem. Stocked with gourmet goodies, local cheeses, and handmade treats, it’s perfect for souvenirs or for putting together a picnic-style meal back at your stay.
