Nestled in Deerwood, MN, Cuyuna Lakes Stay offers modern, thoughtfully upgraded accommodations tailored to those exploring the scenic wonders of the Cuyuna Lakes region. Whether you’re into mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, or simply unwinding in nature, this guide walks through what makes Cuyuna Lakes Stay an ideal home base—from room options and amenities to seasonal highlights and local tips.

1. A Renewed Historic Hideaway

Once the Deerwood Motel, Cuyuna Lakes Stay reopened in late 2022 after significant renovations, combining historic charm with contemporary comfort. Now, this 16-room complex offers kitchenettes, touchless entry, shared laundry, and stylish interiors—crafted for outdoor lovers and longer-term visitors alike.

3. Location: Your Trailhead to Adventure

Situated mere steps from the Cuyuna Lakes trailhead, this lodge is a gateway to about 50 miles of mountain biking, plus hiking, kayaking, fishing, and paddling on lakes like deeply scenic Portsmouth Mine Pit Lake—Minnesota’s deepest.

Beyond the trails, nearby Deerwood and Crosby offer charming cafés, shops, and dining options. For broader trail system prep and etiquette, the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is a useful companion resource.

4. Seasonal Travel Tips

Spring (April–May): Early bird season—see trails reawaken and enjoy tranquility before crowds arrive.
Summer–Fall (June–October): Prime biking, paddling, and festivals; early booking is wise.
Winter (November–March): Ideal time for fat biking, snowshoeing, and cozying up indoors with local events nearby.
